2012 PAWS Volunteer NeedsAll of the following positions are directed or managed by the Executive Director (ED), the Program Director (PD) or the Director of Outreach and Communication (DOC). Although you may work independently, you won't be left alone to fend for yourself. Help and support are always available.
Marketing Professional – Work together with the ED and DOC to get the word out about PAWS and its evolving programs. Design and update marketing materials, create new marketing campaigns, etc. (3-5 hours/week at first for a couple months, then as needed) Website Updater – A great position for an aspiring Web Designer. Upload and update current PAWS website content. (1-2 hours/week, works closely with PD and DOC) Photographer (1-2 positions) – Help document the inspiring work that PAWS does each day and at each event. Photos will become property of PAWS and will be used in marketing materials, on the PAWS websites, etc. (1-2 hours/week and as needed for events; works closely with the PD and DOC.) Videographer – Take photos and videos of events, programs, and adoptable animals; create videos to be shared on YouTube and Facebook to help in our marketing efforts and donation drives (think of the famous ASPCA videos, but not that sad). (5 hours a month; works closely with the PD and DOC) Assistant Volunteer Coordinator – Make initial contact with new PAWS volunteers then update their information into PAWS database. (1 hour/week, works with the DOC.) Pet Food Bank Manager – Organize monthly pet food bagging events and coordinate delivery of pet food to the four local food banks. This is an extremely rewarding position, as it benefits hundreds of families. (4-5 hours/month for food bagging event, works closely with DOC). PAWS Buddy Brigade Manager – Help organize and grow the Buddy Brigade to increase the number of teams and recurring visits throughout Bainbridge Island and North Kitsap. (3-5 hours/month, works closely with DOC) Click for more information on the PAWS Buddy Brigade. Grant Researcher – Search online and elsewhere to identify grant opportunities that may be applicable for PAWS. (5-10 hours/ month, works closely with the ED and PD.) Journalist – Story Writer – Capture the stories that are PAWS by writing our adoptable cats’ stories and history. (3-5 hours/month, works closely with the PD and DOC, as well as the Adoption Managers.) Adoption Counselors – Be a matchmaker by connecting families and cats and kittens in need of homes. This rewarding position requires a monthly, 4 hour commitment. Training is available and required. (works closely with the PD and two Adoption Co-Managers) Information Booth Ambassadorss – Help spread the word and information about PAWS at the PAWS booths at the local Farmer’s Markets and other events. Booths will be hosted at Bainbridge Island, Kingston and Poulsbo throughout the year. You don’t have to be a PAWS expert, just have a willingness to talk with fellow community members. (hours are as needed per event, works with the DOC.) Events Volunteers – help at one or many of the PAWS events that are hosted each year. Work behind the scenes or directly with event participants. Events include, but are not limited to Spotlight on PAWS (annual dinner/auction) and WagFest (canine celebration).
