Buddy Brigade 
PAWS is proud to announce its newest program, The PAWS Buddy Brigade. The PAWS Buddy Brigade is a team of certified therapy dogs and their qualified owners that visits nursing homes, senior centers, schools, libraries and any other place where Therapy Dogs are needed. The goal of the Therapy Dog Team is to provide comfort and companionship to those on the receiving end of loving licks and tail wags. These visits increase emotional well-being, promote healing, and improve the quality of life for the people being visited and the staff that cares for these people.
Our four-footed therapists give something special to enhance the health and well-being of others. It has been clinically proven that through petting, touching, and talking with animals, patients’ blood pressure is lowered, stress is relieved, and depression is eased. The Buddy Brigade also provides support for schools and libraries by participating in the Tail Waggin' Tutors program. Libraries and schools schedule reading hours for children and Therapy Dogs. Children and dogs bond together over a shared story. The child’s confidence and reading skills grow in a relaxing environment. Each human/dog team is certified through Therapy Dog International or The Delta Society. PAWS would love to have others join this valuable program! Let PAWS pay for your certification: When you complete a minimum of eight visits in one calendar year as part of The PAWS Buddy Brigade, PAWS of Bainbridge Island and North Kitsap will pay to renew your certification.
