PAWS float takes third place
Guess What??!!?? We won third place in the Clearwater Casino’s Fat Tuesday parade. It was a blast. Here’s a photo of our ED, Mark Hufford, getting ready to walk the parade route.

Thanks to Ona Karasa and Monte Underwood for creating and building the float. Thanks Tori, Mindy, Jen, Linda, Mark and Amy for walking along with the float, handing out dog treats and cat nip. What a fun time!
Congrats to our friends at West Sound Wildlife Shelter for taking first place with their float and the Silverdale Rotary who took second.
Stop by and see the fresh look at the PAWS Adoption Center
Have you been down to the PAWS Adoption Center on Miller Rd, BI lately? Thanks to two very hard working volunteers, Ona and Chantel, for doing a super cleaning which included taking apart and assembling, disinfecting and rearranging the cat cages all over the space. It is so much easier to see the kitties now and they have better views too. Come down and take a peek when you get a chance.

Vote for the Float
Even if you’re not a big gambler, you can help PAWS out by stopping at the Clearwater Casino and voting for our float, which will be part of the Fat Tuesday Parade of Service.
Vote for our float beginning Feb. 15, until 6 p.m. on Feb. 21. You’re also welcome to watch the float in action during the indoor parade in the casino on Feb. 21 at 7 p.m., and cheer us on during the judging. Twenty area nonprofits are in competition for top prizes.
A huge thanks to Monte Underwood and Ona Karasa, amazing float builders, whose inspired creation you won’t want to miss.

The Maine Coons—A Cautionary Story of Cat Breeding

Did you list getting in shape as one of your New Year’s Resolutions?
Here’s some ideas on ways to include your furry workout partner in on your goal. A brisk daily walk can do wonders for your immune system, cardiovascular health and weight management, but it can be hard to find the motivation to get moving each morning. Use your dog’s unflagging energy and need to get outdoors as motivation to move quickly from your house to the park.
A recent Michigan State University study found that people who owned and walked dogs were 34 percent more likely to get the amount of daily exercise they need, according to a university release.
