April 12 – Chili Cook Off contest, 2-5 p.m., at Jak’s Café & Espresso, 19355 Jensen Way, Poulsbo (Poulsbo Place 2 Plaza). For information and entry forms, visit jakscafeandespresso.com. All proceeds will be donated to PAWS.

June 1 – PAWS Dog Walk, Battle Point Park on Bainbridge Island, featuring demonstrations, pet communicator, BI police dog Rusty, instant pet portraits, booths, and prizes galore. Download a registration form (individual or team) and sign up today!

August 14 – Fiesta on the Farm benefit, hosted by The Ferry Dog Mothers.

September – Town & Country Market will host Accentuate the PAWSitive featuring Hold That Pose pet portraits, Picture Your Pet photo contest, and the 7th annual mustard tasting and hot dog barbecue. (date to be announced)

October 25 – Barkitecture, the unique event first held in 1999, returns bigger and better. The gala dinner/auction features incredible locally designed and built doghouses and fine feline furniture, as well as many wonderful silent and live auction items.


WHAT IS PAWS?
PAWS of Bainbridge Island is a volunteer-based nonprofit animal welfare organization that promotes responsible pet ownership and the reduction of pet overpopulation. PAWS features free or low-cost spay/neuter for pets of low income residents of Bainbridge Island and North Kitsap, a lost and found pet registry, and a pet adoption program.

WHAT PAWS DOES
Since record keeping began in 1998, PAWS has accomplished the following:

2,535 Pets spayed or neutered
2,948 Owners received financial assistance for their pets' veterinary needs
3,895 Pets received veterinary assistance
